Long time Microsoft employee uncomfortable with company not being hated

Frank Cooper is a developer in the Office division at Microsoft. He has been working at Microsoft since the 1990s and has seen the company transform during his tenure. In the 1990s Microsoft was equal parts feared and hated by so many in the tech industry.
This was the time when Frank Cooper joined the company. Seeking to work for a company who is rash, takes chances, and disrupts industries Frank saw Microsoft as moving forward the progress of technology. The brutal and brash way executives would target competitors and destroy smaller players was just the thing Frank new had to be done.
Now in 2019 Microsoft is a very different company. Who is Microsoft competing with? No one fears Microsoft like they used to. Now every company, big and small, becomes a partner and works collaboratively with Microsoft engineers. This new culture has made Frank uncomfortable. In the past he knew who to hate, and who to mock; those days were easy.
